Asala receives her late father's oud instrument from an oriental seller in Damascus

In a touching gesture, the Syrian artist Asala received an oud instrument from an oriental seller in Damascus, which belonged to her late father, the artist Mustafa Nasri.

The owner of a famous oriental store in Damascus had posted a video clip on the store’s social media accounts, some time ago, in which he showed an oud instrument that he said was made by the craftsman Tawfiq al-Naht, and was more than 100 years old. He had obtained it in 2013, and when it was confirmed that it belonged to the late artist Mustafa Nasri, he decided to hand it over to his daughter Asala upon her return.

The store owner asked his followers to help deliver the video to Asala, and the video spread widely on social media. Thanks to this spread, he was able to deliver the news to the Syrian artist and hand her the oud personally, on the eve of her upcoming concert in Damascus.

The Syrian artist, known as the "Icon of the East", is completing preparations for her upcoming concert in Damascus, Thursday, September 17.
