The European Union blames Russia even for weather changes, the Foreign Ministry said

The special representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry on climate issues, Sergei Kononuchenko, said that the European Union is not in the mood for constructive climate negotiations and blames Russia for weather fluctuations. He noted that in the EU it is customary to blame Russia for political instability, socio-economic problems and weather changes. Europe has experienced one of its most intense heat waves this summer, particularly in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Greece, where damage from wildfires and heat waves in 2026 exceeded three billion euros.

Hungary lifts its veto on negotiations between Ukraine and the EU. What concessions will Kyiv make?

Hungary is ready to lift its veto on Ukraine’s negotiations with the EU on the “Internal Market” and “Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth” clusters after the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered a bill expanding the educational and linguistic rights of national minorities, including the Hungarians of Transcarpathia. Voting is scheduled for October 12. This could end a period of tension in Ukrainian-Hungarian relations associated with Budapest's demands to protect the rights of its minority in Ukraine.
