Darja Varfolomeev: Second gold at the World Championships in Germany

Darja Varfolomeev delivered her second gold show in rhythmic gymnastics at the World Championships in Germany. After triumphing in the all-around competition, the 19-year-old exceptional athlete also won the title with the ball on Sunday. It was the 13th World Championship victory for Varfolomeev, who also won bronze with the hoop.

In front of 4,250 spectators in the once again sold-out Frankfurt Festhalle, Varfolomeev received 30,350 points and thunderous applause from the audience for her difficult ball exercise. In the end, she clearly relegated the Russians Sofija Ilterjakowa (29.800) and Maria Borisova (29.150), who were starting under a neutral flag, to the other medal places.

Previously, Varfolomeev had also made a strong appearance with the tire. 30,400 points meant third place. The gold medal won by Taisiia Onofriichuk from Ukraine was only 0.3 points short of the gold medal. Defending champion Sofia Raffaeli from Italy came second (30.500).
