A horrific accident occurred at Changgeng Transfer Station in Guishan District, Taoyuan City at about 10 a.m. today (5th)! When a Chang Gung Memorial Hospital shuttle bus entered the station, it was suspected that the vehicle malfunction caused an out-of-control collision. The front of the bus crashed directly into the transfer station, causing a large piece of glass in the station to break and damage. Fortunately, it did not hit any people waiting for the bus. However, two waiting people at the scene were injured by broken glass spray. They were all fine after medical bandaging and treatment. Fortunately, they were not seriously injured.

Preliminary investigation by the Guishan Police Station revealed that the 43-year-old driver surnamed Xu accidentally crashed into the waiting area when he was preparing to enter the station, causing two waiting people to be cut by splashing glass. There were no passengers in the shuttle bus. It was suspected that the vehicle malfunction caused the out-of-control collision. The detailed incident process and cause of the accident still need to be further investigated and clarified.

The Chang Gung Memorial Transfer Station is an important transportation hub promoted by the BOT model in cooperation between the Taoyuan City Government and the Chang Gung Memorial Medical Foundation. The city government provided land, and the Chang Gung Memorial Medical Foundation invested 1.46 billion yuan in construction and operation. It built a transfer station and an international conference center on the 5th floor above ground and 1 underground floor, and gave back 605 square meters of public space to the city. It will serve as a base for youth entrepreneurship and a Chang Gung Memorial Library branch. It will be opened at the end of 2022.

Regarding the Chang Gung Memorial shuttle bus crashing into the Chang Gung Memorial transfer station, Lin Zonghan, the public transportation section chief of the Municipal Transportation Bureau, said that the relevant damages and compensation will be handled by Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.
