Three Moroccans arrested in Ceuta for throwing corrosive liquid at soldiers

The Civil Guard arrested three other Moroccans this Sunday afternoon in Ceuta for their involvement in throwing bottles loaded with corrosive liquid at an Armed Forces patrol, an attack that did not injure any of the soldiers.

The events, as police sources have informed EFE, occurred this Sunday afternoon in the San Amaro area, a place near the coast where the military has established a control device.

The three migrants threw the bottles at the soldiers, without any of them reaching the Army troops. The Civil Guard managed to locate those involved and arrest them.

The Association of Spanish Troops and Sailors (ATME) has denounced this "new attack" and has once again requested "urgently" recognition of a risk profession and of authority agents for the military.

ATME has regretted seeing "how it seems that the military is the target" of migrants.

Prison for those arrested for stoning soldiers

Also this Sunday, a Ceuta judge decreed the preventive entry of the four people who were arrested in Ceuta for stoning a military patrol in the early hours of Friday to Saturday, of which a sergeant was slightly injured.

The judicial authority has ordered their entry into provisional prison pending trial after they were transferred this Sunday morning from the Police Headquarters where they remained under arrest. The four Moroccans will be transferred to the Fuerte Mendizábal prison in Ceuta.

As judicial sources have informed EFE, none of the four acknowledged their guilt in the events and alleged that they were other migrants who were with them sleeping in the same area.

The detainees assured that the stone throwing was carried out by other compatriots and that they were confused with the real aggressors.

However, the military has assured that at no time did they lose sight of the aggressors until they were finally intercepted.

The Public Prosecutor's Office maintains a request for four years in prison for each of them for a crime of attack and another two years for each for a crime of injuries, as well as demanding that these sentences be replaced by expulsion from Spain for a period of five years.

This attack occurred just two days after the ambush suffered by a military patrol in the Benzú area during the early hours of August 27. On that occasion, according to the investigation, a group of between 30 and 40 migrants surrounded an Army vehicle and began throwing stones at the four soldiers who were traveling in it when they were heading to a surveillance point.
