Digital Week Milan 2026: 181 events on six central themes including Smart City, AI and dog adoption

The program of the 2026 edition

With a rich program of 181 events, distributed across different days and locations in the city, the Milanese Digital Week revolves around six central themes: Digital for business, Digital citizenship, Smart City, Technologies, Culture, art and sport, Training and work. The objective is to create a space for discussion between citizens, businesses, institutions, universities and research centers on the changes linked to digital transformation and on the technologies that are changing the way of living and designing the city. Among the new features of the 2026 edition, the role of the Smart City Lab, which becomes the central hub of the event. Right here the Milan Design Week officially begins with the opening conference, in the presence of the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala.

The Smart City Lab

Still within the Smart City Lab, among others, the meetings "The generative city: challenges and changes in the AI era", scheduled for 1 October, and "The augmented city: intelligent services and digital infrastructures for citizens", scheduled for 2 October, will also be held. But there will also be events dedicated to creators, algorithms and AI, self-driving mobility, communication and digital transformation. Next to the central hub there are the Knowledge Hubs, spaces distributed throughout the Milan area which explore the themes of the Digital Week in depth through the expertise of the individual places.

Events dedicated to digital innovation

How do you describe the city with data? The answer is the event "Narrating the city with 'Dati Milano'", scheduled for 1 October at the Polytechnic of Milan. The meeting shows how the Open Data of the Municipality of Milan can be used with artificial intelligence tools, interactive dashboards and applications to better describe and understand the city. In addition to the meeting, a discussion with the public is also planned. There will also be "Creative Futures" which, scheduled for October 1st in via Scutari 3, revolves around creativity and artificial intelligence, including talks and participatory sessions.

The dog adoption initiative

Among the initiatives not to be missed we also find "AdottaMi" which, scheduled for 3 and 4 October at Parco Sempione, promotes dog adoptions through an approach based on the compatibility between animal and future owner. Organized by Empethy together with AreaCani Milano, the initiative welcomes over 70 dogs looking for a home, telling their story, habits and needs. Creators, associations, veterinarians and educators will accompany the public in the initiative.
