Donald Trump signs executive order for the era of "Super Intelligence"

He announced it days ago and now the official act has arrived. Donald Trump signed the executive order ushering in the "era of Super Intelligence". America, we read in the three-page measure posted on Truth, "is at the forefront of a new technological revolution in the field of artificial intelligence. The modern field of artificial intelligence was born in the United States, where American scientists first gave the discipline its name and laid the foundation for its development. Seventy years later, thanks to our unparalleled culture of innovation, world-leading companies and research institutions, and our entrepreneurial spirit, America is once again pushing the technological frontier forward."

The technologies developed "by American innovators far surpass what was imagined when the term 'Artificial Intelligence' was first coined. The capabilities of today's frontier systems go far beyond imitating or automating individual aspects of human intelligence." These capabilities continue to improve, “increasingly representing not just artificial intelligence, but a new era of Super Intelligence,” a term that more aptly captures “the promise, potential, and rapidly evolving capabilities of these technologies.” To the extent permitted by law, the Executive Branch will use the terms "Super Intelligence" and "SI" in place of "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI" and will not recognize the use of "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI" in any applicable context. Within 60 days of the order, "the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology (APST), in consultation with the heads of such other agencies as the APST deems appropriate, shall submit to the President a proposed legislative text to establish a federal definition of 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' that reflects the capabilities described in section 1 of this order. The proposal shall include, among other things, "an assessment of whether, and to what extent, the definition of 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' should modify, broaden or otherwise replace the existing legal definition of 'artificial intelligence'."
