Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu's reaction to the arrest of Amine Cansu Çelik

Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu, wife of detained Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, reacted to the arrest of Üsküdar Deputy Mayor Amine Cansu Çelik with a post on her social media account.

İmamoğlu said, "You separated a 4-year-old child from his mother. With what conscience do you fit this cruelty? With what understanding of justice can you explain the separation of a child from his mother and the disintegration of a family?" he said.

"IT'S A SHAME, IT'S A SIN!"

Dilek İmamoğlu used the following statements in her post on her social media account:

"With the arrest warrant issued today, you separated a 4-year-old child from his mother. Amine Cansu Çelik was arrested. With what conscience do you fit this cruelty? With what understanding of justice can you explain the separation of a child from his mother and the disintegration of a family? Everything we say 'this cannot be done' is happening one by one before our eyes. It is a shame, it is a sin. How can you turn arrest into a method that is so easily used when it is not a punishment, but an exceptional protection measure?

How many more families will be torn apart? How many more children will be separated from their mothers and fathers? Give up now. Do not cause more pain to this country, this nation. The law that has been destroyed will be needed by everyone one day. So is justice. Both positions and seats are temporary. But the scars left on people's lives by the decisions you make today are permanent. Amine Cansu Çelik should be released."
