Foreign ministers met in Istanbul. Crises are on the table

Pointing out that the tension between the USA and Iran can only be overcome through diplomacy and dialogue, Fidan stated that military methods do not yield permanent results, on the contrary, they increase the vulnerabilities in the region.

He stated that ensuring permanent freedom of navigation in the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandap is of vital importance for both regional and global stability.

Referring to the Houthis' attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, Fidan reiterated Türkiye's support for the security of Saudi Arabia; He pointed out the understanding of common security and solidarity represented by the Mecca Defense Alliance.

Fidan stated that R4 and E3 countries contributed to strengthening stability and prosperity in Syria, and noted that Israel continues its actions aimed at destabilizing Syria.

Touching on the security risks posed by the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, Fidan added that Türkiye, as a Black Sea coastal country, continues to convey solution proposals to the parties in order to prevent the war from spreading to this sea.

On the other hand, speaking at the opening of the conference, Foreign Minister Fidan said that the city has been the center of dialogue and diplomacy for a long time. Minister Fidan pointed out the role of the city and said, "It has fulfilled its duty as a bridge between divisions."

Fidan made the assessment that "Israeli forces violating the ceasefire every day reduces trust in the international system and creates distrust in this regard."

Stating that Türkiye's efforts in Libya are a concrete example of how the principles of consent, mutual trust and inclusiveness can form a basis, Fidan said, "We continue our joint dialogue both in the east, in the west and internationally in order to realize a result-oriented dialogue here."

Referring to the Mecca Agreement in his speech, Fidan said, "The Mecca Defense Alliance and the Balkan Peace Platform show how this principle can work in practice. The Mecca Alliance was established to protect regional security, peace and prosperity, and its establishment was realized with a sense of regional ownership."
