2人同住的鐵皮加蓋民宅位於外埔區土城路偏僻處,屋子兩側及後方有竹林,附近另一棟三合院,據指出,三合院曾有吸毒人口,進出複雜,但幾個月前皆先後被警方逮捕入獄。

大甲警分局表示,經初步勘查,屋內發現2具焦屍,疑為屋主李姓女子及其泰籍丈夫,警方聯繫李女的弟弟到場認屍,因遺體碳化難以辨識,將進一步透過DNA鑑定,初步了解,起火點疑在屋內,但詳細起火原因,還有待消防局進一步鑑定。
