Two men are shot dead in front of a drinks distributor in Cariacica

Two men were shot dead in front of a drinks distributor in Cariacica, in Greater Vitória, on Thursday night (24). Images from a security camera recorded the moment a car passes by and more than 10 shots are heard on a street in the Prolar neighborhood.

According to a Military Police Incident Report (BO), Weverlon Mendes Emerich, aged 22, and Matheus Tragino dos Santos, aged 19, were lying on the ground when the police arrived. Witnesses said a suspect drove by in a silver car, shot the pair and fled.

Weverlon was still alive and was rescued by family members who wanted to take the victim in a private car to the Emergency Room in Alto Lage. He was taken by a cousin, but he did not survive his injuries and died inside the vehicle.

Matheus was attended to at the scene of the crime by a team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu/192), who confirmed the victim's death.

Still according to the Police Report, the military checked the police systems and heard reports at the scene that indicated that Matheus had an extensive criminal record and was affiliated with the Primeiro Comando de Vitória (PCV).

The investigation indicated that he was selling drugs in front of the distributor and that the crime may have been motivated by retaliation for another homicide that occurred in Campo Verde, the rival faction's area of ​​activity.

However, contacted by g1, the Espírito Santo Department of Justice (Sejus) reported that no records of passages through the prison system were found in Matheus' name.

The Civil Police reported that the case remains under investigation by the Specialized Homicide and Personal Protection Division of Cariacica. So far, no suspects have been detained.

The bodies of the victims were sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) to be autopsied and, later, released to their families.
