57-year-old woman found dead in Tito: murder investigation

There is the trail of the tragedy that occurred in the family environment being examined by investigators investigating the death of a 57-year-old woman, Maria Vittoria Carbone, found in Tito, in the province of Potenza. The body was found yesterday evening, Thursday 20 August when 118 health workers, called by the victim's ex-husband and son, attempted in vain to resuscitate the 57-year-old: she had very serious facial trauma and this leads investigators to believe that she was murdered. The 30-year-old son was questioned by investigators. According to an initial reconstruction, Maria Vittoria Carbone had gone to the house of the man who lives in an apartment adjacent to that of her father, from whom she had been divorced for some time. The carabinieri and prosecutor Francesco Russo also spoke to her ex-husband, who was in the apartment next door, and some of the woman's friends and family.

The investigations

The carabinieri are reconstructing the dynamics with the coordination of the prosecutor of the Lucanian capital, Camillo Falvo, who is on site together with the soldiers of the investigative unit. In these minutes, family members, neighbors and friends of the victim are heard as witnesses. "It is a tragedy that deeply affects our community. Investigations are underway to outline what happened. There remains pain and condolences for the family", says the mayor of Tito, Fabio Laurino. “Surely this episode must lead us to reflect not only today, but a daily reflection is necessary to help us understand uncomfortable situations that hide within the home", concludes the mayor.

The condolence

The Regional Guarantor for Victims of Crime also follows what happened to Tito "with deep attention and participation". “With the utmost respect for the judicial authority and with full trust in the work of the Judiciary and the police”, underlines the Guarantor, “it is necessary to wait for the ongoing investigations to shed full light on the circumstances of the incident". The Guarantor then expressed "the most heartfelt closeness to the woman's family, to her loved ones and to the entire Tito community, which in these hours is experiencing feelings of pain and dismay".
