Two brown bears involved in incidents in Palacios del Sil: one dead and the other run over

A specimen of brown bear has been found dead this week in the mountains of Salientes, in the municipality of Palacios del Sil (León), while another specimen has been run over in the area of ​​the Ondinas reservoir, also within this municipal area.

The Territorial Environmental Service of the Junta in León confirmed this Thursday the discovery of the dead specimen and explained that its body has been transferred to the Wild Animal Recovery Center (CRAS), in Valladolid, where a necropsy will be performed to determine the causes of its death.

The same sources have confirmed the attack of another brown bear in the vicinity of the Ondinas reservoir. In this case, the animal managed to escape after the impact, so it has not been possible to determine at the moment if it suffered injuries.

The two events occurred in the municipality of Palacios del Sil, one of the Leonese territories, in the Bierzo region, with the regular presence of brown bears.

The cause of death of the specimen located in Salientes will be known once the analyzes and necropsy are completed at the Valladolid recovery center.
