Durigan responds to criticism of government inertia in the BRB crisis

The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, refuted, this Friday (14), the accusations that the federal government is inert in relation to the crisis involving the Banco de Brasília (BRB) and classified the criticisms as "a great injustice and irresponsibility".

The declaration comes one day after the public conciliation meeting between the parties - representatives of the Federal District, the Union, the BRB, the financial system and the Public Ministry - on Thursday (13), at the Federal Supreme Court (STF), in Brasília, in search of a financial solution to the crisis at the banking institution.

Despite not being responsible for BRB's liabilities, Dario Durigan emphasizes that the economic team has presented solutions that would be able to maintain important services in the Federal District. “Everything that has been requested has been done by us, by the federal government, in conjunction with the banks, with the government of DF”.

Faced with the technical and legal impossibility of granting direct endorsement from the Union, the federal government designed an alternative model to make the renegotiation financially viable and has held meetings coordinated by the Attorney General's Office of the National Treasury (PGFN) and the Attorney General's Office of the Union (AGU).
