Dykarklubben Polar and ZeoMem Sweden arrange a try-on evening to get more women to dive

The background to the try-on evening is a joint effort by Dykarklubben Polar and ZeoMem Sweden to lower the threshold for a sport where women are still in the minority.

The initiator is Helena Godotter Karlberg, CEO of ZeoMem, who, among other things, works for cleaner water. At the same time as emphasizing the issue of equality.

- That's why we wanted to do this with Dykarklubben Polar and get more women into this sport because equality is very close to my heart, says Helena Godotter Karlberg.

Filippa dreams of a diving certificate

And 15-year-old Filippa Lidberg from Boden was one of everyone who was completely sold on diving after the try-on evening in Luleå.

- I think it's really cool that you can be underwater and can breathe, she says.

Now she dreams of getting a diving certificate and then going abroad.

- Like go to the Red Sea and experience all the fish and beautiful coral reefs, because I've heard it's great there, says Filippa Lidberg.

After the enormous interest, the diving club will organize another try-out evening for all the girls who did not get a place in the first round. After that, they plan to start a basic course in diving for women only.
