Beida Lake starts test skiing for new snow season, Changchun Winter Games venue welcomes actual test

China News Service, Jilin, November 7 (Reporter Cang Yan Shi Hongyu) On the 7th, the 2026-2027 snow season trial activities of Jilin Beidahu Ski Resort were launched. Beida Lake is one of the hosting sites for the snow events of the 33rd Universiade Winter Games in Changchun 2027 (hereinafter referred to as the "Changchun Winter Games"). On the first day of trial skiing, the ski trails were open, the cableway was in operation, and the snowmaking, power systems and visitor reception processes were simultaneously put into practice to ensure a comprehensive inspection before the Changchun Winter Games.

Jilin City is a famous ice and snow tourism city in China, located at 43 degrees north latitude, the "Golden Latitude Zone of Ice and Snow in the World". The snow quality here is fluffy, the snow is abundant, and the snow season is long. The ski industry scale and reception capacity are among the top in the country. Last snow season, the two major ski resorts, Beidahu and CTS Songhua Lake, received over one million visitors.

On that day, Chinese and foreign ski enthusiasts lined up in front of the "Avenue of Stars" ropeway station in Beidahu Ski Resort. After the ticket gate was released, snow lovers quickly entered the cable car car. Staff were at the gate to ease the passenger flow. The ski equipment rental hall and ticket check-in windows were opened simultaneously. The snowmaking machines next to the ski trails continued to operate, and the snow and fog spread with the wind.

Many ski enthusiasts say that the “first ski” of the new snow season is quite memorable and they look forward to safe and smooth skiing throughout the season. Chen Zui from Shenyang, Liaoning quickly found his form on the snow track. "I bring my wife with me every year for trial skiing. Although it has only been 7 months since the last snow season was closed, we already feel that we have waited too long."

According to the resort, a total of 81 ski trails are open in Beida Lake this snow season, and 15 ropeways are put into operation. After the two new ropeways are put into operation, the ski resort's capacity can reach up to 35,000 people per hour.

Huang Xiaoxing, director of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau of the Jilin Ice and Snow Experimental Zone, said that the local infrastructure and transportation facilities have been upgraded during the new snow season: 13 kilometers of ice and snow landscape roads have been built, more than 400 new parking spaces have been added in the area, and more than 30 new energy charging facilities have been added; ice and snow through trains connect to the capital cities of the three northeastern provinces, and directly to Longjia International Airport and Jilin Railway Station.

This snow season, Beida Lake will undertake competitions such as alpine skiing and freestyle skiing at the Changchun Winter Games. The ski resort will not be closed during the competition, the competition area will be temporarily controlled during the competition period, and the remaining ski trails will remain open to the public. Huang Xiaoxing said that the ice and snow test area will also host more than 30 special ice and snow activities and national-level events such as the Snowboard Festival, Snow Expo, and National Alpine Ski Series to continue to enrich the supply of ice and snow products.

The resort stated that it will summarize the trial operation in the future and continue to polish the event guarantee and public reception plan.
