Supreme Council member Seo aims to ‘strengthen minority human rights through the identity of Honam women and disabled people’

Supreme Commissioner Seo is expected to raise her voice in promoting minority human rights and promoting three mega projects based on her identity as a woman and a disabled person from Honam.

Supreme Council Member Seo is a first-time pro-Myung faction lawmaker who used to be a women's and disabled human rights activist, and is an acquired blind person. After graduating from Mokpo University's Department of Social Welfare, she served as director of the Mokpo Women and Disabled Sexual Violence Counseling Center and as a standing representative of the Jeonnam Women and Disabled Solidarity, where she consistently represented the voices of women and the disabled in the region.

After serving as a member of the Mokpo City Council, Supreme Commissioner Seo entered local politics and expanded his scope of activity by being appointed as a non-standing member of the National Human Rights Commission in 2020. In the 22nd general election, she was recommended as a female proportional representation candidate for civil society by the Democratic Alliance of Korea, was assigned number 1, and was elected, entering central politics.

After being elected to the National Assembly, he served as the party's floor leader and chairman of the National Committee for the Disabled, working to improve the rights of minorities. On the 9th of last month, he officially declared his candidacy for Supreme Council member, saying, 'I will loudly represent the voices of the socially vulnerable who were vulnerable on the periphery in the leadership and take the lead in guaranteeing the sovereignty of party members.'

During the election campaign period, he was classified as a pro-Kim Min-seok candidate and engaged in a war of nerves with pro-Blue candidates. After entering the leadership, it is expected that she will raise her voice in promoting minority human rights and promoting three major mega projects based on her identity as a woman and person with disabilities from Honam.
