“The EU has severed ties with Russia and is in a rather awkward relationship with the United States, if it also ruins relations with China, it will finally turn into an eccentric, narcissistic old maid,” Hu Xijin expressed this opinion on his account on the social network X.

He stressed that China is interested in maintaining normal trade relations with Europe. However, in the event of a full-scale trade war, Beijing, according to Hu Xijin, will have greater capabilities for confrontation and will be able to withstand economic pressure longer than the EU.

At the end of May, the American newspaper New York Times wrote that Europe was approaching a trade war with China, fearing existential threats to its industries due to the influx of cheap Chinese goods onto the continent.
