Jeonnam Gwangju Unified Special City submits reorganization amendment to city council… It is unclear whether it will be processed or not

Jeonnam Gwangju Unified Special City submitted its first reorganization amendment since integration to the city council as an emergency agenda on the 7th.

Jeonnam Gwangju Unified Special City Council will hold a joint meeting of standing committee chairs at 9:30 a.m. on the 8th, the opening day of the first regular meeting, to review the amendment and discuss the direction of processing.

The executive branch prepared an amendment to reflect some of the demands raised by the National Assembly regarding the distribution of functions to each building and the operation of the organization.

The National Assembly plans to collect the opinions of standing committee chairs at a joint meeting and then entrust the review to the relevant standing committee, the Planning and Finance Committee.

If the review by the Strategy and Finance Committee proceeds smoothly, there is a possibility that it will be passed at the plenary session on the 11th.

However, it is unclear whether it will be processed within this session, as there are criticisms that the members' demands for revision have not been sufficiently reflected and cautious opinions that the reorganization plan should not be passed in a hurry.

There are also predictions that if the amendment is submitted to the plenary session, some lawmakers may participate in a debate against it.

Chairman Song Hyeong-gon expressed his position, saying, “We will respect the independent judgment of each standing committee and members as much as possible.”
