Zimbabwe Vice President Chiwenga: Trade in services will help find new opportunities for trade in services

Constantino Chiwenga, Vice President of Zimbabwe, said in a speech at the 2026 CIFTIS Global Services Trade Summit.

On September 9, the 2026 CIFTIS Global Services Trade Summit was held in Beijing. Constantino Chiwenga, Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, delivered a speech.

Chiwenga said, "Zimbabwe has huge potential in the service sector, thanks to our strategic location in southern Africa, high-quality population and rich natural and cultural heritage. Tourism remains Zimbabwe's key advantage, but we are also vigorously developing transportation professional services, trade and financial services to achieve diversified development and expand the base of service exports. We are willing to expand services trade and cooperation and welcome investment in the service sector."

Chiwenga mentioned several subdivided areas: in the medical and health field, build a modern, well-equipped, digitally interconnected health service infrastructure; in the mining field, provide digital professional services to support value-added mineral exploration, industrialization and responsible mining; in the energy field, realize the modernization and upgrading of the power grid, promote the application of energy-saving and energy storage technologies, and build a climate-resilient service foundation; in the field of financial services, create a modern, digital, inclusive and standardized financial and banking ecosystem.

Chiwenga expressed high recognition for the long-term partnership between Zimbabwe and China.
