Wanted 26-year-old in custody for the bag murder in Värmdö

In the spring of 2024, some people who ride motocross on Värmdö make a macabre discovery in a forest area next to road 222. In a seemingly new suitcase that is thrown in the rugged terrain, they glimpse a human hand.

The person in the bag turns out to be a 37-year-old man and his relatives have contacted the police since he did not show up during a planned visit to some friends in Nacka.

The investigation reveals a complex story. At bottom, there is believed to be an affair between the 37-year-old man and a woman. At the beginning of 2025, she is charged together with two other people for varying degrees of involvement in the bag murder.

When the prosecution is brought, prosecutor Cecilia Tepper says that a motive for the crime may have been honor. The extramarital relationship had sunk the family's honor. By killing Ako Abbas it would be restored.

- This woman has had a sexual relationship with the plaintiff. In connection with her husband becoming aware of this, the woman reports the man for rape in several cases, says Cecilia Tepper at the time.

In February 2025, the Nacka district court announces that the woman and her brother-in-law are acquitted of murdering the man in the bag. On the other hand, they are both sentenced for grave breach of privacy. The court notes that some argue that there could be an honorable motive, but at the same time it is emphasized that there is much that speaks in the opposite direction

A key person in the case has been missing all along without a trace. It concerns a young man to whom the woman was previously married and with whom she has two children. The man is suspected of murdering the 37-year-old and gross violation of grave peace and has been internationally wanted.

But now the 26-year-old has been arrested, which Expressen was the first to tell.

- He has been arrested and detained on probable cause on suspicion of murder and grave breach of privacy, says prosecutor Cecilia Tepper to DN.

The police believe that the wanted man managed to escape from Sweden with the help of the woman's brother, who was charged with aggravated protection of a criminal. Since then, the now 26-year-old man has been internationally wanted. When the brother was questioned, he said that the man is in Afghanistan.

Early in the morning the day after the murder of Ako Abbas, the 26-year-old was caught on surveillance cameras at the border crossing in the Danish Rödby ferry terminal. He was then sitting on the passenger side of the car. A small child was suspected in the back seat.
