Egypt: Collision between a tourist bus and a truck. Many people died

The accident occurred on Tuesday on a desert road connecting Cairo with Assiut. The city lies approximately 320 kilometers south of the Egyptian capital.

A tourist bus collided with a truck there. The services reported 13 deaths and 34 injuries.

As AFP reminded, serious road accidents occur frequently in Egypt. The reasons include: poor technical condition of parts of vehicles and roads and failure to comply with regulations by drivers.

According to the Egyptian statistics office, nearly 6,000 people died on roads in the country last year.

At the beginning of September, a bus accident on the mountainous Sinai Peninsula killed 22 people, including 10 Jordanian citizens.
