En un mensaje publicado este domingo en sus redes sociales, Varela ha explicado que un hombre se encaró al grupo con el que el regidor se encontraba celebrando el cumpleaños de un amigo, en Vilagarcía.

"Quiero agradecer al grupo de personas con las que estaba, que hicieron por separarlo a pesar de que en el intento recibieron golpes también, sin pensar siquiera en devolverlos", ha escrito.

El alcalde ha lamentado lo ocurrido por los presentes y en especial por su hija pequeña, que estaba a su lado "y vio cómo un día de fiesta se convertía en algo distinto".

"Por ella, que hoy sigue preguntándome por qué ese hombre quiso pegarnos a todos y yo todavía no sé qué contarle, siento la especial obligación moral de reivindicar un mundo mejor y de manifestar mi más profunda repulsa a los violentos y a los impulsores del odio", ha señalado.

"Quiero un futuro mejor para mí, para mi hija y también para mi agresor", ha concluido el regidor vilagarciano.
