The Government approves emergency aid of 165 million euros for Ceuta

The Government will approve this Tuesday in the Council of Ministers emergency aid of 165 million euros for Ceuta with the aim of revitalizing the local economy and public services affected after the massive entry of migrants on July 30 and 31. This was confirmed this Sunday by government sources, who add that this measure will be added to the expansion of the Comprehensive Socioeconomic Development Plan of Ceuta, announced this week by the Minister of Economy, Carlos Body.

These 165 million euros will be part of an economic emergency package and basic services to immediately alleviate the situation that continues to exist today in Ceuta, where thousands of migrants remain in the city.

The economic amount that will be approved this Tuesday will mean a direct injection into Ceuta's economy equivalent to 4% of its GDP. Thus, the package specifies that 80 million euros will be given in the next four months, while another 70 million are prepared to be spent in 2027. In this way, the direct economic injection thus reaches 150 million euros in a year and a half.

To this we must add 15 million destined to strengthen education, health and justice in the autonomous city. Of all the aid, the Executive highlights that there will be 35 million euros allocated to SMEs and the self-employed. Furthermore, during this month of August, aid valued at another 15 million has already been granted.

As government sources highlight, these 165 million euros of this economic emergency package are intended to address the emergency of the moment and are not part of the already announced expansion of the Comprehensive Socioeconomic Development Plan of Ceuta, promoted by the central and regional Administrations from 2022.
