A migrant is detained after crossing the El Tarajal border in Ceuta

The authorities of Ceuta have arrested this Sunday a person who had crossed the El Tarajal border this Sunday morning and who asked not to be returned to Morocco.

As detailed by RTVE, this person had managed to reach Spanish soil in the morning and had resisted being returned to Morocco. Thus, in front of the agents he has shouted on several occasions "Not to Morocco!", while trying to avoid the police authorities.

Therefore, he has tried to escape from the agents by entering the water. Despite everything, a Civil Guard boat managed to take him to the sand, where he was detained and finally returned to Morocco. In total, he has been in Spain for just over an hour.

The situation a month after the massive entry into the autonomous city remains very delicate. The president of the City, Juan Jesús Vivas, insists that it is necessary for Ceuta to recover normality "as soon as possible" and to do so he considers it "essential" that the Government "concrete and execute" a plan for the return of people who entered irregularly.

Meanwhile, the Government has stressed the need to have a series of spaces in the city to house these people who have refused to return voluntarily to Morocco. As the Temporary Immigrant Stay Center (CETI) was collapsed, which not only has its 512 spaces occupied but also houses another 300, the Government enabled a plot in the bagging area located in Loma Colmenar and initially designed for vehicles that are going to cross the Tarajal border.

In addition, several industrial warehouses have been enabled and other spaces are being considered to continue responding to the thousands of people who are still sleeping on the streets - many of them in the area of ​​Loma Colmenar - or in the mountains.

The general feeling of the Ceuta population – of about 85,000 inhabitants – has been expressed over the last few days with daily demonstrations and rallies in which citizens have agreed on two things: demanding the Spanishness of Ceuta and asking for the expulsion of those who entered.
