The Ayuso Government boycotts the vote on the new regional financing model

The Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso deposes the Ministry of Finance and will not participate in this Friday's vote on the new financing model agreed upon by Pedro Sánchez with the leader of Esquerra, Oriol Junqueras.

Official sources assure that the Minister of Finance of Madrid, Rocío Albert, will not attend this Friday the meeting of the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council (CPFF) called by the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, to approve the new financing model that changes the one in force since 2009.

"This is a financing system that breaks with the equality of all Spaniards and that seeks to whitewash the debt generated by the corrupt management of the independence governments and that has been continued and intensified by the current socialist president, Salvador Illa," they say in the Community of Madrid.

Albert has asked the rest of the PP Finance Ministers not to attend either to avoid a quorum, but, for now, she is the only one to confirm her sit-in. "The only way that this agreement cannot materialize tomorrow in the CPFF is if there is no quorum at the meeting. The absence of all the CCAA governed by the PP would mean the paralysis of this rupture of the equality of all Spaniards and the whitewashing of the economic and political corruption of the managers of the Generalitat of Catalonia in recent decades."

"The Community of Madrid has transferred its position during these days to the national leadership of the party," these sources add.

Other communities governed by the PP have so far defended attending the meeting and requesting the withdrawal of the proposal to change the model. And, if he does not withdraw, as seems certain, vote against. The person in charge of Murcia, Marisa López Aragón, has written to the Minister of Finance urging him to start "a real negotiation" without imposing the pact with Junqueras. The counselor of Castilla y León, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, has also requested the withdrawal of the proposal from the CPFF agenda.

However, according to the Madrid regional government, voting against does not stop the new system, because Arcadi Spain only needs the support of Catalonia to move it forward. At the moment, the vote in favor of the Catalan Generalitat and also of the Canarian Government is guaranteed, after having agreed with its president of the Canary Coalition, Fernando Clavijo, an extra annual contribution of 600 million euros.

For their part, the socialist governments of Asturias and Castilla-La Mancha have also anticipated their vote against and have asked the central government to withdraw it. Even if it is approved in the CPFF, it is difficult for it to succeed in the decisive vote in Parliament later, due to the rejection so far by Junts.

Regarding the Ministry of Finance, official sources say "it regrets that the Community of Madrid has announced that it will not attend tomorrow's Fiscal and Financial Policy Council and considers the call to boycott the meeting irresponsible." "Institutional hooliganism will not prevent the Government from continuing to reach out to all territories and parliamentary groups to carry out a reform of autonomous financing that is essential to guarantee greater resources for health, education, social services or housing," they maintain.
