The Constitutional Court endorses amnesty to Jordi Turull for embezzlement

The Plenary Session of the Constitutional Court has endorsed this Tuesday to protect the former Minister of the Generalitat Jordi Turull to whom the Supreme Court will soon have to apply the amnesty in full, that is, also with respect to the crime of embezzlement of public funds from 1-O.

The progressive majority led by President Cándido Conde-Pumpido has been in favor of upholding the lawsuit filed by the former independence leader for violation of fundamental rights against the decision of the Second Chamber of the High Court, although the magistrates have not voted during the Plenary Session held this Tuesday, according to what legal sources inform EL MUNDO.

The magistrate of the conservative sector José María Macías will retain the presentation despite having been in the minority, since he was against granting the protection. Legal sources explain that Macías will foreseeably redo the presentation, which today has been withdrawn for not having the support to be approved, and will once again submit it to the deliberation of the magistrates in the Plenary Session on October 6.
