The vice president of Melilla accuses the Sánchez Government of "cynicism" in the face of the migration crisis in Ceuta

The first vice president of the Autonomous City of Melilla, Miguel Marín Cobos (PP), has accused the Government of Pedro Sánchez of acting with "cynicism" after the central Executive has called on the Popular Party to contribute to "reducing tension" in Ceuta in the face of the migration crisis that the autonomous city is going through.

Miguel Marín has condemned the "inaction, laziness and abandonment" that, in his opinion, the Government of Spain is demonstrating in the situation in Ceuta and has questioned "the capacity of the central Executive to offer a response and put an end to the crisis", following the irregular arrival between July 30 and 31 of more than 70,000 people from Morocco.

The leader of the Melilla Government has considered it especially reprehensible that, after the management carried out by the central Executive, "the PP is now being asked to contribute to reducing tension." In this sense, he has defended that "the responsibility of guaranteeing border control and providing a response to the situation corresponds to the Government of Spain."

The general secretary of the Melilla PP has also focused on the need to act in the face of irregular entries registered in Ceuta and has demanded the "immediate return" of people who have entered the autonomous city irregularly.

The first vice president of Melilla has stressed that "the situation in Ceuta directly affects Melilla due to its shared status as Spanish cities located on the external border of the European Union." For this reason, he has demanded "firm action by the State and a response that allows us to regain control of the situation and prevent the crisis from spreading or generating new pressures on Melilla."

The "number two" of the Government chaired by Juan José Imbroda in the Spanish city in North Africa has denounced the "passivity" with which, in his opinion, the central government has faced the migration crisis that Ceuta is going through and has considered the actions of President Pedro Sánchez and his ministers to be "irresponsible" in the face of a situation that, in his opinion, required the adoption of exceptional measures.

Marín has especially questioned the response times of the Executive and has pointed out that "the activation of the National Security Council occurred too late, when the crisis had already acquired an extraordinary dimension and was generating important consequences for the autonomous city."
