Musk, known for his support of Donald Trump and the global far-right for his particular fight against the woke movement, gender ideology and the alleged white genocide that according to him happens in his country of origin, congratulated the ultra leader Alice Weidel through his own social network. “Well done!”, the millionaire responded to a publication by Weidel in which he congratulated his group on the good results.

Likewise, the AfD's main candidate thanked Musk for his support and asked for “solid and constructive cooperation” with the far-right party. “Thank you, Elon, for your support and for your clear and extremely important perspective on the political events of our time, also here in Germany,” wrote Ulrich Siegmund in the same thread. "If we govern, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to establish solid and constructive cooperation. Germany would once again be a place worth investing in," the AfD member added to his statement.

Elon Musk has become one of the personalities closest to the party led by Weidel, whom he has followed closely since his rise in German politics. At the beginning of 2025, he appeared at a party campaign event via videoconference, in which he showed his public support for the party – then second in the polls – and expressed several slogans about the importance of preserving German culture and values, the rejection of multiculturalism and how, in his opinion, the extreme right is the only hope for Germany.

On other occasions, he has declared that Alternative for Germany “opens the way” to a country settled “in mediocrity,” which he sees “on the verge of economic and cultural collapse.” “It is the last spark of hope for the country,” he said in an interview for the German Die Welt.

Musk is a follower of several conspiracy theories, such as the theory of the great replacement of the white race, and very ideologically close to Trumpism, having been part of the first stage of Trump's second term before separating due to certain differences. Specifically, Musk uses his social network to attack immigration and is faithful to the MAGA idea that Europe is approaching collapse as a civilization, both from an economic and demographic point of view, due to immigration policy.

During the Ceuta crisis, in addition to sharing Trump's message in which he claimed that Spain was “ruined” and had been “invaded,” Musk joked about these episodes by publishing images from the movie World War Z, comparing the entry of migrants with an invasion of zombies. The comparison, criticized by human rights defenders for dehumanizing migrants, has also been used by the Trump Administration through the term “alien,” which in English can refer to both an immigrant and an extraterrestrial.

For his part, the president of the United States has not yet commented on the AfD victory, beyond sharing the provisional results through Truth Social, in which the far-right party obtained 44.4% of the votes.
