VAN ASCHE - SHELTON

Third set in progress (7-5, 3-6)

4:34 p.m.

BUT NOOOOO THE DOUBLE FAULT AT THE WORST TIME AND SHELTON WHO BREAKS!

3-2 service to follow for the American

4:34 p.m.

Noooo the big forehand error which gives Shelton two break points....

4:33 p.m.

Be careful, the drop shot attempt remains in the net and Van Assche is trailing 15-30 on his serve.

4:31 p.m.

THE RETURN OF SPACE FOR VAN ASSCHE AND THE BREAK! YES SIR, YOU’RE BIG! 3-1

4:30 p.m.

An ace for Shelton, another break point left! 30-40

4:29 p.m.

A first saved by Shelton. There are two left! Come on, come on, come on!

4:29 p.m.

0-40!!!!! ANOTHER BIG MISTAKE FROM SHELTON AND THREE BREAK BALLS!

4:28 p.m.

0-30 for the Frenchman on the American's serve! Alleeeeez

4:27 p.m.

Ah, well, Shelton gives us another gross unforced error, a bit like at the end of the first set. SO MAYBE?

4:25 p.m.

I don't know where Van Assche gets his strength, but overall the recovery work was well done. Because he still finds the strength to serve more than 200. And win his faceoff 2-1

4:23 p.m.

What is your prediction for this end of the match?

4:21 p.m.

Well, on the other hand, since the start of the second set, Shelton has once again become imperial on his serve. On this throw-in, Van Assche did not exist 1-1

4:20 p.m.

In any case, it starts well and it holds its service. We still feel that he has his hands full. 1-0 Van Assche

4:18 p.m.

Good to see how Luca is holding up physically now, he who has already lost his strength against Musetti and Hijikata.

4:16 p.m.

Van Assche took the opportunity to take a quick trip to the locker room to recharge his batteries. We hope that it will have the same effect as for Djokovic in his heyday.

4:12 p.m.

Well, Shelton doesn't let anything slip and easily concludes 6-3. So there will be a third set! Van Assche is used to it after two marathons against Musetti and Hijikata!

4:10 p.m.

Come on, Van Assche regains confidence in his serve and doesn't let it slip away. It's 5-3. Now is the time to come back Luca, come on my little one!

4:07 p.m.

He holds up the long Shelton exchanges better and doesn't give the Frenchman the opportunity to react: 5-2

4:04 p.m.

SHELTON'S REACTION, WITH IN GROSS PASSING, WHO TAKES THE FRENCH'S SERVICE! 4-2

4:03 p.m.

Ouch ouch ouch, two break points for Shelton after a sliced backhand from Van Assche which ends up in the net...

Luca Van Assche faces Ben Shelton in the semi-final of the Masters 1000 in Paris, this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Plénitude Arena. A meeting to follow on “20 Minutes”, France Télévisions and Eurosport.

The Frenchman, author of an incredible week after notably releasing Learner Tien and Lorenzo Musetti, is at this stage of the competition for the first time.

Still 338th player in the world at the end of the 2025 season, Van Assche has won several Challenger tournaments this season and will be, at least, 33rd in the ATP on Monday.

3:38 p.m.

FIRST SET FOR VAN ASSCHE 7-5! ROAD TO THE FINAL!

3:33 p.m.

OUIIIIIIIII THE FAULT IN FOREHEAD, BREAK AT THE BEST TIME 6-5 FOR THE FRENCH!

2:43 p.m.

It’s FINALLY GONE! GO LUCA!

1:13 p.m.

Hello tennixes!

We were waiting for Arthur Fils, even Arthur Rinderknech or Quentin Halys... But it is another Frenchman who attracts the spotlight during this week at the Plénitude Arena, for the Masters 1000 in Paris. Lucas Van Assche is in the semi-final of the tournament and is opposed today to the American Ben Shelton. Still beyond 330th place in the world a year ago, the one who won Roland-Garros Juniors in 2021 is having a huge Parisian tournament and arriving for the first time at this stage of the competition. Come on, just one more step and it will be the final.
