Minister Bayraktar attended the introductory meeting of the Türkiye Energy Policies Review Report prepared by the International Energy Agency (UEA).
NEW ENERGY ARCHITECTURE
Explaining that they are reviewing Turkey's National Energy Plan this year, Minister Bayraktar said, "We are reviewing that program and we aim to present it in a more comprehensive manner as Türkiye's 2040 New Energy Architecture, hopefully before COP31. We are doing serious work." he said.
WE WILL ELECTRIFY TURKEY
Minister Bayraktar noted that they believe 100 percent in electrification and said, "If you ask me, 'What is in your new energy architecture?', I would say 'electrification' in one word. In other words, we will electrify Türkiye and increase electrification very seriously." he said.
VEHICLE FLEETES WILL CONVERT TO ELECTRIC
Minister Bayraktar pointed out that the electrification rate in the field of transportation is 5 per thousand and said, "We want 8 to 10 million electric vehicles to be on the roads in Türkiye by 2035. We aim for a process in which Türkiye's vehicle fleet turns mostly electric." he said. Stating that they saw a 19-20 percent increase in electricity demand due to cooling alone last year, Minister Bayraktar noted that they predict that this will increase similarly almost every year.
BIGGER TARGETS IN RENEWABLE ENERGY
Stating that Turkey's renewable energy potential is great, Minister Bayraktar said, "We will set bigger targets for it. Hopefully, our President will announce a more ambitious target to the world in Antalya at COP31." he said.
3. NATIONAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY ACTION PLAN
Pointing out that they have put forward the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan in energy efficiency, Minister Bayraktar said, "The second one covers the years 2024-2030. We have made important progress there in all areas of the economy, industry, transportation, agriculture and buildings. Our preparation for the 3rd National Energy Efficiency Action Plan for 2030 and beyond is one of the most important issues of our new energy architecture." he said.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
Minister Bayraktar said, "We have included a restructuring program within the New Energy Architecture with the aim of turning our 5 very important public companies, namely Turkish Petroleum, BOTAŞ, TEİAŞ, EÜAŞ and Eti Maden, into national champions. We believe that with these, we will reach our goals both in Türkiye and in the world." made the statement.
WE CAN TAKE NEW MEASURES
Answering the questions of the press members about the agenda after the program, Minister Bayraktar answered a question about the Hormuz crisis and said, "With the Eşel Mobile System, natural gas and electricity

Stating that they are trying to protect citizens with their support and by not making any changes in prices, he said, "We continue this. Of course, we can take new measures depending on daily developments, that is, developments in the world."
WE ARE TRYING TO RAISE
Answering a question about the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, Minister Bayraktar stated that the first reactor in Akkuyu is in an intense testing process and said, "As revealed in our President's last meeting with the Russian President, the two countries and the entire work team are currently working on commissioning this reactor within the next few months. There are hundreds of tests to be done. Therefore, all of them need to be completed. We are trying to make it on schedule." he said.
NEW TARGETS
While answering a question regarding COP 31, Minister Bayraktar said that they are working on what kind of energy infrastructure Turkey will have in 2035-2040. Noting that they will announce new targets related to both energy efficiency and renewable energy, Minister Bayraktar said, "Our goal is to announce this plan to the public through you before COP31, maybe at the end of October or early November. Maybe our President will announce the important targets to the world at COP31. This is the goal." he said.
OUR WAREHOUSES ARE FULL
When asked about the natural gas agreement with Iran, Minister Bayraktar said: There is nothing yet on this issue. We are following that process as well, but now, as we enter winter, our tanks are full of natural gas. Hopefully, we do not see any problems with supply security regarding natural gas and other areas.
