Former Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Bülent Arınç, attended the reception held in the ceremony hall by the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on the occasion of the start of the new legislative year.

Answering journalists' questions, Arınç said the following in his assessment of the "fund crisis":

"PEOPLE WHO DO NOT FEAR THE LAWS AND GOD WILL DO THIS KIND OF WRONG THINGS"

"Türkiye's only problem is not the funding crisis. I actually feel ashamed, saddened and bored while telling and experiencing these events. Turkey does not deserve these. We did not write such a story, we never thought we would live through such days. If you remember, there was a tripartite government when the AK Party was established, the DSP, ANAP and MHP governments. During their period, the economic crises of 2000 and 2001 occurred. Thereupon, Kemal Derviş came and became the minister. We, as the AK Party, came to power alone on the rubble. We all worked together to prevent such a crisis from happening again, we had a prime minister in charge. Thank God, things had improved in Türkiye, but the fund crisis or some similar wrongdoings really upset us.

Türkiye's problem is not just economic problems, we are experiencing social decay. The public is aware of this, at least we are aware of it. The political institution is in great trouble. There is a great erosion in moral values, ethical values have been forgotten. Besides all this, of course, people who forget to be ashamed will also do wrong things. People who do not fear the law or God will do such wrong things.

"IF PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR SENSE OF SHAME, THEY CAN DO ANYTHING"

Islam does not foresee a state model. Islam first wants consultation to be valued, secondly, transparency, and thirdly, accountability. There are laws and certain orders for people with secular morality. There is also a day of reckoning for people who consider themselves religious. If people completely forget this, all evil can come. If people have lost their sense of shame, they can do anything.

The fact that the people doing these jobs have hair and beards and cover their heads also causes great harm to Islamic values. We are far from presenting an exemplary model to our young people, and unfortunately, these bad examples alienate people from faith.

I have been a friend of our President Erdoğan since 78. I also believe in the values he believes in, but at this point, when we look at the speech he made in Melisimiz today, I see that he does not do so on the field as much as he embraces these values. We need to build the entire field, bureaucracy and politics on these new values. Let's see if it will go all the way to the end. Let's know what will happen. Let's hold them all to account. A loss of 800 billion is mentioned. The money to be collected from left and right is not even 8 billion. Who will pay the rest, who is responsible for this? They all need to be exposed. I trust our President's words, I wish this to come true. If these do not happen, the elections will be lost, but worst of all, people will lose all their faith and feelings for us. I don't want it to be like this.
