The medical student identified as Eduardo Henrique de Carvalho, 20 years old, who had been arrested in the act last Friday (2), in Cuiabá, after running over and killing Valdemir Ernesto de Souza, 86 years old, on Avenida Beira Rio, stated in a statement to the police that he was distracted when looking at the car dashboard moments before the accident. He said he had just passed a speed bump and was accelerating the vehicle when he hit the motorcycle and the pedestrian.
