Military police officer shoots and injures 15-year-old teenager in Abadia de Goiás

A 30-year-old military police officer was arrested in the act after shooting and hitting a 15-year-old teenager who was in the back seat of a car, in Abadia de Goiás, in the Metropolitan Region of Goiânia. The young woman was rescued and taken to the Governador Otávio Lage de Siqueira State Emergency Hospital (Hugol).

The incident happened on Sunday (4). The police officer's defense had not been located until the last update of this report. According to the police report, the confusion began when leaving an event farm after a disagreement between the soldier and the driver of the car. The police officer was taken to the Trindade Police Station.

According to delegate André Veloso, the Civil Police will investigate the case and await the result of the custody hearing of the police officer, who was off duty at the time of the incident. In a note to g1, the PM informed that the corporation's Internal Affairs Department was contacted and will adopt the appropriate disciplinary measures, independently of the criminal investigation (read the full note below).

In a note sent to TV Anhanguera, Hugol reported that the patient is in the unit's surgical center, in serious condition and breathing with the help of equipment.

According to the bulletin, the police were called by the medical unit team as soon as the young woman was admitted injured by a gunshot. Family members told the military that the teenager was participating in a get-together at the farm and ended up shot inside the car as they left the place.

In a statement recorded at the incident, the soldier claimed that he was walking towards the party when the car passed by at high speed. According to his report, there was an exchange of insults and he fired around four shots towards the ground.

The shots pierced the body of the car, a white Renault Logan, and hit the teenager in the abdomen. In addition to the privately owned 9mm pistol used in the action, the police also seized the institutional weapon belonging to the corporation.

The Military Police of the State of Goiás clarifies that, on Sunday night (04), a military police officer who was off duty was involved in an incident involving gunshots in the municipality of Abadia de Goiás, which resulted in an injured 15-year-old teenager.

After the incident, PMGO teams went to the event location, where they located the person involved, identified as a military police officer. The approach, precautionary disarmament and seizure of the firearm were carried out, with the soldier being arrested and taken to the Trindade Police Station. According to the record of the incident, a Notice of Arrest was drawn up in Flagrante for the alleged practice of attempted simple homicide, provided for in article 121 of the Penal Code.

The Military Police Internal Affairs Division was immediately notified and will adopt the appropriate administrative measures, independently of the criminal investigation.
