Access to Evrensel newspaper's account on the social media platform

The decision was based on Article 8/A of Law No. 5651, which cited the justification of "protection of national security and public order".

The access blocking decision has not yet been implemented by X.

CALL FOR SOLIDARITY FROM THE NEWSPAPER

In the statement made by the newspaper upon the decision, they called for "solidarity" and said:

"As Evrensel newspaper, we have never bowed to any pressure in our publishing life for 31 years, with the power we received from our readers to tell the truth of Türkiye. We have endured confiscations and closures since the day we were founded. We did not step back when our reporter Metin Göktepe was murdered by the police or when our office was shot. We stood tall in solidarity against investigations, lawsuits, ad embargoes and fines. We encourage our readers to expand our solidarity, subscribe, and subscribe on all social media platforms." In accordance with the decision of the Bakırköy 4th Criminal Court of Peace dated 13 September 2026, numbered 2026/9112, access to many X and Instagram accounts, including the accounts of Evrensel, Amnesty International, Peace Academics and the Media and Law Studies Association (MLSA), was blocked.
