Benchmarking the Beijing Winter Olympics, Changchun Winter Games meteorological services ensure "accurate and stable"

China News Service, Changchun, October 10 (Gao Longan, Li Yanguo) Jilin Province will benchmark the meteorological support standards of the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Harbin Asian Winter Games to ensure that the meteorological services for the 33rd Universiade Winter Games in Changchun 2027 (hereinafter referred to as the "Changchun Winter Games") are "accurate and stable". Wang Shien, Party Secretary and Director of the Jilin Provincial Meteorological Bureau, said in Changchun on the 10th that the provincial meteorological department will give full play to the technical advantages of intelligent grid forecasting and collective forecasting to achieve timed, fixed-point, and quantitative forecasts to provide scientific and accurate support for event decision-making.

The Changchun Winter Games will be held from January 15th to 25th, 2027. The event will be held in the Changchun main competition area and the Jilin City sub-area. College student athletes from more than 60 countries and regions will participate. Winter ice and snow events are highly sensitive to meteorological conditions such as temperature, snowfall, strong winds, and visibility, and have extremely high requirements for refined meteorological services.

The Jilin Provincial Meteorological Department focused on all competition venues and training venues in the two core competition areas of Changchun City and Jilin City, and completed the optimized layout and debugging of automatic weather stations in the competition areas in a targeted manner. Wang Shien said that the exclusive weather support system for the event has been basically completed, and a high-density observation station network has been fully deployed, building a three-level three-dimensional observation network with "full coverage of the competition venue, dense layout along the route, and no blind spots in key areas."

The reporter learned that Jilin Province has completed the customized development, function iteration, joint testing and trial operation of a full set of event meteorological business software based on the special service needs of ice and snow events. The event system has the ability to integrate all elements of live monitoring, minute-level refined forecasts at the 100-meter level, systematic supply of service products, and agile release through multiple channels. The professionalism of event services and the efficiency of business processing have been comprehensively improved, and it has the ability to operate in actual competition during the competition.

Wang Shien introduced that the smart meteorological service product system has completed a specialized upgrade, and will develop and launch a meteorological decision-making service applet for the Changchun Winter Games, and set up exclusive functional modules such as venue meteorological live conditions, risk warning prompts, refined forecasts, and major weather reports. At the same time, the meteorological department has fully implemented the refined guarantee mechanism of "one plan for one venue, one plan for one project" based on the differentiated meteorological needs of different venue terrains, events, competition periods, and sports characteristics.
