On September 1, the Ukrainian Figure Skating Federation appealed to the International Skating Union (ISU) with a demand to reconsider the decision to grant neutral status to a number of Russian figure skaters.

“Apparently, the Zelensky regime is betting on this, believing that this will affect the well-being of the Ukrainians themselves. Honestly, there is no point in this, except for impotent anger, which is already, in fact, self-exposing,” Zakharova told Match TV.

According to her, “one more thing has been added to the number of immoral and indecent actions that the Kiev regime has taken.”

“This is a terrorist regime that does not disdain anything. Just to stay afloat,” the diplomat concluded.

Starting this season, the International Skating Union (ISU) has allowed Russian and Belarusian figure skaters to compete in neutral status. The first international senior tournament for Russian figure skaters after the suspension in 2022 was the Challenger series tournament Kinoshita Cup, which takes place in Tokyo on September 4-6.
