The Russian Ambassador to Romania has denied accusations of involvement in the UAV incident in Leipzig

Russian Ambassador to Romania Vladimir Lipaev denied the insinuations of Romanian diplomacy regarding the accusations of the German authorities about Russia's involvement in the incident with a drone at Leipzig airport, the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission reported on Friday.

It is noted that on September 3, the Russian ambassador to Romania was summoned to the country’s Foreign Ministry for a conversation, during which the Romanian side “reproduced the absurd accusations of the German authorities about Russia’s involvement in the incident with a drone at Leipzig airport, and also tried to hold Russia responsible for the attacks on supposedly civilian targets on the territory of Ukraine and, in particular, on the Orlovka checkpoint on September 1.”

“The ambassador categorically denied the insinuations of Romanian diplomacy as ridiculous, unsubstantiated and absurd, pointing out the inappropriateness of the undertaken demarche affecting Russia’s relations with another state,” says a message published on the embassy’s Telegram channel.

It is explained that the head of the diplomatic mission emphasized that any objects used by Ukraine for combat operations and military transit, including those disguised as civilian ones, were and remain a legitimate target for the armed forces of the Russian Federation, and therefore the protest about the attack on the Orlovka checkpoint was rejected by him as far-fetched and without the slightest basis.

Leipzig police reported on August 5 that an employee at the city's airport discovered a UAV with explosives in the air cargo security area. Germany blamed Russia without providing concrete evidence. Moscow called the incident a hastily concocted provocation.
