Berhan Şimşek, who reacted with the image of violence against women, resigned from his post

Security camera footage has emerged regarding the incident that reportedly took place between Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman Berhan Şimşek and Özlem Şanver, with whom he has been living together for 10 years. The images included remarkable moments of tension between the parties. A restraining order and protective measure was issued for Şimşek. Following the violent images, it was learned that Berhan Şimşek resigned from his party's Central Executive Board membership.

Özlem Şanver, who has been living together with CHP Deputy Chairman Berhan Şimşek for 10 years, applied to the court in April 2026, claiming that she was subjected to physical and psychological violence.

REMOVEMENT AND PROTECTION MEASURE DECISION

According to the news in İHA, the Istanbul Anatolian 1st Family Court, which evaluated the application, decided to impose a restraining and protective measure against Berhan Şimşek for 2 months within the scope of Law No. 6284.

DECISION EXTENDED FOR 2 MONTHS

It was learned that the decision in question was later extended for another 2 months.

CLAIM: "HE USED VIOLENCE IN THE PAST"

It was stated that Şanver's past statements included allegations that Şimşek used physical violence, insulted and threatened him.
