Controversy over Jiang Wanan’s resume spreads, Lanying questions Su Qiaohui’s educational qualifications

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wanan's English resume in the Legislative Yuan was changed from "SJD" (Doctor of Laws) to "JD", sparking discussion. Scholar Lin Huanqiang now pointed out that DPP New Taipei mayor candidate Su Qiaohui was also registered as SJD in the English resume of the 9th Legislator, but her actual highest academic qualification was LLM Master of Laws. New Taipei Blue Camp questioned whether Su had faked her academic qualifications. Su responded that the Chinese literature resume she submitted in the 9th and 10th semester both stated that she was a candidate for the SJD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. She never said she was a doctor. Later, she realized that the legislator was too busy with work and could not finish the thesis, so she took away the PhD candidate experience in the 11th semester.

Recently, Chiang Wanan's "SJD" resume published in the Legislative Yuan was questioned as being inaccurate. The Taipei City Government clarified that when Chiang Wanan served as a legislator, the Chinese academic information he provided was always correct as "Juris Doctor, University of Pennsylvania Law School." The English translation was wrong by a manufacturer commissioned by the Legislative Yuan.

Kuomintang New Taipei City Councilor Lu Jiakai and New Taipei City Council Candidate Deng Kaixun have now questioned Su Qiaohui's English resume as a legislator in the ninth term. She also registered her highest academic qualification as "SJD, University of Pennsylvania", but according to the Chinese resume, the highest is LLM "Master of Laws".

Su Qiaohui accepted a joint interview with the media before attending her own "Mid-Autumn Opera Night" event tonight. Regarding the resume of the Legislative Yuan, Su Qiaohui said that the Chinese language resume she submitted to the Legislative Yuan in the ninth and tenth terms clearly stated that she was a "candidate for the SJD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in the United States" and never said that she was a Ph.D.

Su Qiaohui said that during the tenth term, she finally realized that she would never be able to go to the United States to finish writing her thesis because the legislator was too busy, so she gave up her student status during the tenth term. Also during the eleventh term, she took the initiative to remove her experience as a doctoral candidate. This was very clear and was reported truthfully. There should be nothing to question or make a fuss about.
