Pingtung County Teacher Counseling and Counseling Support Center unveiled to provide teachers with free psychological counseling

The Pingtung County Teacher Counseling and Counseling Support Center was unveiled on the 21st.

In order to strengthen the mental health support for educators, the Pingtung County Government and National Pingtung University jointly established the "Pingtung County Teacher Counseling and Counseling Support Center", which combines government administrative resources and university psychological counseling majors to provide free psychological counseling services to teachers in need in the county at least three times a year.

The Community Counseling Center of National Pingtung University has been established for more than 10 years. With the professional support of professors from the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling at Pingtung University, it will undertake the Pingtung County Government’s teacher counseling and counseling support business in 2022, providing professional counseling for teachers in the county who need psychological support. Services, last year in response to the transformation of the Psychological Counseling Center into the "Yingxi Psychological Counseling Center", in order to expand the service capacity, this year the "Pingtung County Teacher Counseling and Counseling Support Center" was further established. Today (21st), it was unveiled by Ping County Deputy County Mayor Huang Guorong, Ping University Vice President Liu Yingwei and others.

Huang Guorong said that the educational environment continues to change. In addition to teaching and class management, front-line teachers also face multiple challenges such as parent-teacher communication, student counseling, and work-life balance. While the county government cares about students, it must also take care of teachers so that teachers can have a secure, professional and trustworthy force to rely on when they need assistance.

Ye Baoling, director of Pingda Community Counseling Center, said that in addition to individual counseling, there are also group counseling and psychological growth courses to provide teachers with comprehensive psychological support. More than 80 psychological growth courses have been held so far in 2022, with topics covering work adaptation, parent-teacher communication, emotion management, stress adjustment and career planning, etc., to help teachers increase self-awareness, adjust to stress and improve mental health.
