Sales of electric vehicles and hybrids have increased in Russia

Sales of new electric vehicles and hybrids in Russia in January-September increased by 94.6% and amounted to 99.8 thousand units, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation reported, citing updated data from the analytical company PPK (part of the Electronic Passport JSC group of companies).

This company relies on data from an electronic vehicle passport system.

“Positive dynamics continue in the segment of hybrid and electric vehicles. The market for such vehicles for 9 months of 2026 amounted to 99,749 units, which is 94.6% higher than the same period last year (51,253 units),” the report says.

The department explained that the information for the reporting period was processed after updating data that was received with a delay.

It is noted that the share of electric vehicles and hybrids for nine months amounted to 9.3% of the total new car market in Russia versus 5.1% a year earlier.
