MOSCOW, October 2 - RIA Novosti. Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Vladislav Grib proposed introducing a federal payment to teachers for Teacher's Day in the amount of at least one minimum wage.

Teacher's Day in Russia is celebrated annually on October 5th.

“The best gift for Teacher’s Day is municipal, regional and federal payments. I believe that there should be a federal single payment, a regional payment. And I think that our municipalities can also support. The size of the federal payment should, in my opinion, be at least one minimum wage,” Grib told RIA Novosti.

The current federal minimum wage from January 1, 2026 is 27,093 rubles per month.

Grib also noted that regions and municipalities could also establish additional payments to teachers, determining their size taking into account the capabilities of their budgets.

“I believe that a teacher is probably one of the most important, important professions, which lays both knowledge and the foundations of a worldview, patriotism, respect, and support,” Grib added.
