The president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Edson Fachin, maintained this Thursday (5) the arrest of Fabiano Zettel, brother-in-law of former banker Daniel Vorcaro, and asked the Attorney General's Office (PGR) to comment on the requests for freedom of several people investigated in the Master case, including the former banker, his father Henrique Vorcaro and his cousin Felipe Vorcaro.
The president of the STF asked the PGR to also comment on requests for freedom from:
Paulo Henrique Costa, former director of BRB
Daniel Monteiro, former legal advisor to Vorcaro
Victor Lima Sedlmaier, appointed as member of the Class
Marilson Roseno da Silva, a retired police officer who worked in the intelligence group.
The Prosecutor's Office must also evaluate the maintenance of precautionary measures against Belline Santana, former head of the Central Bank's Banking Supervision Department, and Ana Claudia Queiroz de Paiva, partner of one of the companies that allegedly operated financial transfers intended to support the group's payments and activities.
Fachin maintained the use of an electronic ankle bracelet belonging to Leonardo Augusto Furtado Palhares, a partner in a company linked to Vorcaro.
"In this case, considering that the precautionary measures established in the records must be maintained, because they remain appropriate, necessary and sufficient for the convenience of criminal investigation, any requests for authorizations for travel must be examined on a case-by-case and individualized basis", says the decision.
Father's health
The president of the Supreme Court also gave 3 days for the Nelson Hungary Penitentiary Complex to provide information on the state of health and assistance to Henrique Vorcaro.
The unit must inform about the availability of prescribed medications and the measures adopted to carry out the tests and treatments indicated by health professionals. After receiving the information, the minister will listen to the PGR.
In the request sent to the Court, the defense attached a medical report issued on October 28, 2026. The report points to recurrent episodes of acute diverticulitis, with records of hospital admissions and crises.
The document also says that Henrique Vorcaro is indicated for colon surgery.
Given this scenario, lawyers claim that the clinical picture fits with the hypotheses provided for in the law of converting preventive detention into home detention.
Requests to the Presidency
Fachin took over the analysis of urgent requests related to Operation Compliance Zero investigations. Since September 12, amid the institutional crisis that took place in the Supreme Court, the Master's central cases were sent to the Presidency and ended up paralyzed.
Last week, after an opinion from the PGR, the minister decided that he would annul the requests presented by the defenses and the Federal Police (PF), as an extension.
This Thursday, the president of the STF stated that he evaluated the cases that had already been expressed by the Prosecutor's Office, such as the request to revoke the arrest of Fabiano Zettel, Vorcaro's brother-in-law and appointed as the banker's financial operator. Fachin remained in prison.
"In this case, the preventive detention authorized in the case remains appropriate and indispensable for the application of criminal law, the maintenance of public order and the convenience of criminal investigation, and must be maintained", wrote the minister.
The PF even took Zettel's testimony this Thursday afternoon, via videoconference, as part of the investigations into the group called "the gang", identified as a nucleus of counterintelligence, clandestine surveillance and intimidation in the service of the banker and his father.
Fabiano Zettel, brother-in-law of Daniel Vorcaro, was arrested trying to board a private plane to Dubai.
The testimony lasted about 50 minutes and Zettel said he made payments without question. He also complained to investigators that he had been in prison for nine months.
