Facua denounces racist and Islamophobic verbal attacks in pro-Ceuta demonstrations

The Facua-Consumidores en Acción association has filed a complaint with the State Attorney General's Office to investigate what it considers "verbal attacks of a racist and Islamophobic nature" during several demonstrations in support of Ceuta held in different Spanish cities on the 2nd.

As reported this Friday by the aforementioned association in a statement, various media outlets broadcast images of these acts showing insults and expressions directed against people due to their religion and origin, specifically against the Muslim population.

The association has verified how part of these messages were subsequently reproduced and amplified through profiles of different social networks. Facua has located and provided the Prosecutor's Office with several videos of the rallies held in Madrid, Jaén and Barcelona with chants uttered in the demonstrations.

The association considers it especially relevant that practically identical songs were reproduced in different cities, kilometers apart and during events held on the same day. Likewise, it stands out that in some of these concentrations flags and banners with Nazi, fascist and Francoist symbols could also be seen.

Facua considers that these "racist and Islamophobic" chants could constitute hate crimes and demands that the possible responsibility of those who committed them be investigated, as well as that of their possible authors, necessary collaborators and inductors.
