Novice driver hits two children with car - rescue helicopter in action

An 18-year-old novice driver hit two eleven-year-old boys with his car in Weißenburg in Middle Franconia and seriously injured them.

The young man was part of a wedding parade on Saturday afternoon when his car skidded, the police said.

The car crashed into a property boundary, was thrown about 50 meters further and hit the two children on the sidewalk.

The boys suffered serious head injuries and were taken to hospital in a rescue helicopter.

The 18-year-old had only had his driver's license for two months.

His car was so badly damaged in the accident that it was a total economic loss.
