National police officer Amador Hernández Lugones dies in a traffic accident in Madrid

National police officer Amador Hernández Lugones, 47 years old and assigned to the Provincial Immigration and Border Brigade of Madrid, died last Monday night in a traffic accident while riding an official Corps motorcycle. He was returning to his home, in Boadilla del Monte, when he collided on Poblados Avenue with a white Toyota driven by a 57-year-old woman.

The impact occurred around 9:00 p.m. Amador's body was thrown against a traffic light, which ended up being knocked down. The agent died instantly as a result of chest trauma, according to Emergencies Madrid.

The first testimonies and evidence collected pointed to the possibility that the driver had run a red light just as the motorcyclist was crossing Avenida de los Poblados. The woman, however, denied this in her first statement before the Municipal Police agents. She stated that the traffic light was green for her and that the police officer hit her vehicle without her being able to do anything to avoid it.

The driver tested negative for alcohol. The Municipal Police investigators in charge of the report are collecting evidence, traces, recordings and testimonies to try to determine how the accident occurred. The Toyota was left with significant damage to the entire front and with the bumper torn off.

As soon as the accident became known, several colleagues and commanders from the Immigration and Borders Brigade of the Madrid Police Headquarters went to the scene. One of his superiors was in charge of calling Amador's wife and informing her of her husband's death.

The agent had been assigned to Group V of the Provincial Immigration and Border Brigade for around three years, a unit specialized in the investigation of Chinese criminal organizations. In addition, he was affiliated with the Federal Police Union (UFP) and was a union delegate in the Immigration Brigade. He had previously been assigned to the Citizen Assistance Group (GAC) of the Retiro police station in Madrid.

Amador was married and had two young daughters. A sports fan, it was common to see him participating in middle distance races. His colleagues remembered him yesterday especially for his passion for the profession. "I have known him for many years and he was in love with the Police and public service," explained one of the Immigration Brigade agents.

The news also caused a deep shock among his UFP colleagues. «We still can't believe it. “Amador was always very aware of the union and any problem that the Brigade agents had,” said one of them.

«Thank you for your dedication, for your commitment and for your service. Your camaraderie and vocation will be an example," the UFP wrote on its X account after learning of his death.

The National Police also conveyed its "deepest condolences and a loving hug to the family and friends of our colleague Amador."
