Family members say the ambulance spent three hours waiting for the ferry before Jemerson's death

According to family members, the ambulance transporting Jemerson spent around three hours in Porto do Cujupe waiting for a ferry boat during the transfer attempt.

According to the family, as there was no ferry available, the ambulance returned to Bequimão. Afterwards, Jemerson was taken to Pinheiro, where he died in the early hours of the morning.

Until the last update of this report, there was no confirmation that the wait for the ferry was related to Jemerson's death. The circumstances of the transfer and medical care are still being investigated.

After the repercussion of the case on social media, the governor of Maranhão, Carlos Brandão, informed that the government is investigating the circumstances of the death. He also announced a meeting to discuss the operation of the ferry service.

According to the governor, mayors of Baixada Maranhense, representatives of companies and state departments linked to the service were summoned to the meeting on Sunday (13).

"Attention 🚨 We have called a meeting for Sunday (13) with all the mayors of Baixada Maranhense, companies and State departments that operate the ferry service. The São Miguel ferry will be incorporated in the next few days, and soon we will also have the São Rafael ferry.

We are investigating the case of Jemerson Felipe, 28 years old, who passed away this Friday (11), in Pinheiro, to take the appropriate measures. My condolences to family and friends. We will also improve direct communication between terminals and hospitals, require compliance with travel schedules and schedules, among other emergency measures.
