National prevention of the African swine fever epidemic is a disaster for Taiwan. It is hoped that the emergency response center team will "continuously prevent the epidemic" and prevent products and gifts containing pork from entering Taiwan through any channels, so that Taiwan can remain the only African swine fever-free area in Asia.
Chen Junji said that before the outbreak of African swine fever in 108 years, my country established an African swine fever response center and team, and adopted three levels of control, including border quarantine, pig farm biological control, and post-manufacturing factory inspection. The purpose was to prevent African swine fever from spreading to Taiwan. Although in Taichung last October, A case of African swine fever occurred, but it was quickly eliminated with everyone's efforts. On April 6 this year, the country was again recognized by the World Organization for Animal Health as a self-declared country free of African swine fever. Chen Junji said that among the illegal cases of African swine fever detected this year, 413 cases of passenger luggage, 41 cases of express delivery, and 134 cases of postal parcels were positive. The overall proportion seems to have declined, but as long as one case is not maintained, a serious epidemic may occur later, so the relevant government units still stick to their posts.
He stressed that there are currently 85 countries in the world that are African swine fever epidemic areas. Judging from the countries where African swine fever has been detected in my country in the past, Southeast Asia is a risk hotspot, especially China, which is a higher-risk area. Analyzing the cumulative number, China has detected 86.6% of positive cases of African swine fever. Among the 149 cases detected this year, up to 95% came from China. It is obvious that channels such as small three links, postal parcels, and express delivery are all very high risks of epidemic invasion.
