Russian Permanent Representative to the UN warned of a diversified and adaptive terrorist threat

UN, September 12 - RIA Novosti. The terrorist threat in the world has not disappeared, but has only become more ramified and adaptive, while the ISIS* group and its wing ISIS-Khorasan* remain active and are expanding their presence, said Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya.

“The terrorist threat has not disappeared anywhere. On the contrary, it is becoming ramified and adaptive. ISIS* and associated structures remain active in the Middle East and are expanding their presence in certain areas. ISIS-Khorasan* from Afghanistan continues to pose a serious threat,” the diplomat said during a meeting of the UN Security Council.

Nebenzya also noted that the problem of foreign terrorist fighters who are capable of transferring their combat experience from one region to another remains relevant.

Terrorists are increasingly using AI, drones and digital finance, so no country can cope with this cross-border threat alone without a coordinated international response, the Russian permanent representative emphasized.
